This is our rainy season, so bring an umbrella. We've had about 6.07 inches out of 6.6 average for June.

So far what is refered to as the "rainy season" down here is what we called a "perfect summer" in Vancouver......jajaja.

On the narrow sidewalks in Ajijic umbrellas can be a bit cumbersome. I find that a poncho works better.

Me too, haven't used an umbrella in years. I use a rain jacket with a hoodie.

Or even a dry summer in Vancouver jajaja. Even I am pining for the precipitation and I left the rainforest to escape the wet
As for rain gear I have never bothered with a poncho or umbrella here. Most of the rain is at night and you scooch under the roof at the outdoor establishment you are dining/dancing in or sit on the covered terrace watching the storm. If it is daylight you might get a bit wet but dancing in the rain is acceptable except on certain religious holidays

It mostly rains at night unless there is a tropical storm off the coast. So if you don't go out at night you won't need much rain gear.

There's a brand they sell at Soriana: FlyOut, which keeps the skeeters off but doesn't contain DEET, which isn't so good for you. You need to use this more than once in an evening. Doesn't smell bad, either.
If you're really stuck in the rain......plastic bag works fine and folds up small. Windshield wipers for those who wear glasses would be nice, huh?
But......it mostly rains at night in Camelot.

Remember the misquitos during the day are the ones that give you Dengue
fever! The ones at night don't have it.

It is because they were born and raised in the Constitution Free Zone and part of their education was to read a book on the proper behavior of Dengue carrying mosquitoes.

I thought it was because they were expat mosquitoes and afraid to go out at night

Yes they are different breeds of mosquitoes. I have read that in Thailand there is a mosquito that will breed in running water. There the mosquito police come around and inspect your home for standing water. Must be some nasty mosquitoes there.

Yep only the day misquitos can give you Dengue. Lots of different types of misquitos down here including those little bastards
who go between the standard screen mesh. Google on Dengue and I think someone mentioned the species of misquitos if
that is what you wanted.

By the way if you want to read about it instead of making silly comments here is something from the ACLU. It has a nice
map that shows you the CONSTITUTION FREE ZONE that you say doesn't exist. It does and you are wrong on this issue.
If you don't like the ACLU than google it and you will find other sources that you like better. Read and open up your
closed mind. In effect 2/3 of the country have lost there rights. I asked a federal officer I know and he agreed with me.
You have no rights in the shaded area. People have been arrested in Seattle for taking a picture of the ballard Canal while
Japanese tourist were taking pictures of the same canal. The government was using terrorist laws to remove someone who
was a thorn in there side. He had no rights until people publically complained and than it all went away.

Try Alaska or northern canada. Makes Florida skeeters look like nothing.

Rainfall total June 7.01 inches - Average 6.6 inches
We are well on our way to exceeding yearly averages.

Where are you looking to find rainfall totals?
I'd like to keep an eye on them too. Thanks! :-)
