Telmex, an amazing event
The other afternoon I found my internet connection was not working or my telephone. I used my cell phone to report both. With the internet you can get an English speaking person. He said the problem was at Telmex after doing some diagnostics and that he would report both the phone and the internet. Next morning they were both working. A Telmex representative called me that morning and asked me "in English" if everything was working!!! I was amazed - in English. And it was repaired over night.

Good question Z - probably on his cell phone. The number to report it is 800 123 0000. I think you press #2 to get internet. I ask to speak to someone in English who will take you through some diagnostics - reset, all sorts of things in English. Or you can wait and see if they are just doing maintenance.

I have tried all the usual reset stuff such as unplugging the modem, pushing the little reset button, etc. but it still doesn't work. Guess I will wait and see.

I just called TelMex. No English. I believe they told me to call back tomorrow when there would be an English speaking person on duty.

It's really simple, CBOB: Telmex took yours and gave it to Simpsca.

Heh, gringal, funny.
Did you check the outdoor lines, all intact, none chewed through or blown apart?
Could easily be TM and could come back up at any time. Suerte.

Phone works fine but all my devices no longer receive a wifi signal and it doesn't work even when I hard wire to the modem. I think she is toast. I assume TelMex will supply a new one?
Re: Telmex, an amazing event
It's possible they are doing maintenance. Periodically my internet goes down - I call the number and often they will say we have other reports in your area, must be doing mainetance. Check with John and see if his is working - you should be on the same service. And yes if it's toast you take it in and they give you a new one.

Re: Telmex, an amazing event
I am on my fifth modem in five weeks. After having new phone lines installed from the pole and the internet dropping on and off I started replacing modems. Telmex finally gave me the infinitum 2-wire as a replacement. The Thomsons were all bad. Make sure you take the power cord along with the modem when you go to replace it. They also wanted a copy of my phone bill and an id. Good luck.

You should always get a WiFi signal, even when the Internet is down, unless the modem is broken.

Check if two wire telmex vertical with no ant that you have not hit one of the buttons on the side. I think one of them turns off the wifi.

Good point, Z. For so many years the modems had neither on/off buttons, and certainly no "wireless" buttons, that I forget. My current Huawei modem has on/off, wireless, and WPS (WiFi Protected Setup), which I've never actually used (I believe the receiving component must also have a WPS button to make this work).

The power light is showing red which means it is broken. They told me to exchange it for a new one.
