Post by merry Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:13 pm

I'm going camping in a few days and need to get my machete sharpened.

Anybody know a professional sharpener?

TIA,
Merry

No, but I know a few sharp professionals.
Have a good time hacking away with that dull machete. You will be in great shape and lose a few pounds in this heat and humidity before returning. Surte

Doesn't the roaming knife sharpener sharpen machetes? You know, the guy playing the penny whistle? Or ask at your local hardware store. I know I've seen people buy them at hardware stores.

I was once on the bus, and a guy got on next to SuperLake in SAT. He had a 6 foot pole, a machete and a copy of the movie Jackass 2. I really hope they weren't all related...

Do you know where the roaming knife sharpener is? I guess that's what I am asking.

Yes, I bought it at a hardware store.

Well, since he is "roaming" he could be just about anywhere! But, seriously, I don't know if he has a set pattern or not, I've never needed anything sharpened (I sharpen my own kitchen knives).

Merry, you're going what? Did I read that correctly?
I take a very dim view of camping. The last time i went was in 1968. It rained, ex señor raq pitched the tent on a rock and we couldn't light the campfire in the rain. Case closed, it never happened again.
Señor raq, the new and vastly improved señor, also hates camping. To us camping is done in a motel with an automatic coffee machine at the ready. It only occurs en route to some other distant location. The category of camping applies to any hotel/motel which does not have underground parking, or valet service.

Don't let the average knife shapener touch good kitchen knives. They will ruin them

E-raq,

It's horse camp, and there are cabañas, real beds, I bring my feather comforter and fine sheets... there's running water, baños... no valet service but I prefer to park myself... someone puts the coffee on in the wee hours and I get up when I can smell it. :-)
