ATM ate my card
I got a silver colored debit card from HSBC delivered after 10 days by UPS. The first time I used it to withdraw cash it ate my card. When I told one of the HSBC reps she gave me a blue card like the one you receive when you open an account. Is it the same card? Is the blue card only good at the HSBC ATM? Is the silver card good at other ATMs?
Are there ATMs in Ajijic that speak english?

I had no idea you could ask for more than the $3000 it displays. Great tip. Muchos gracias. This will save me many trips to the machine for rent day.

I didn't know that they now had talking ATM machines in Mexico.

I thought maybe that with the ATM machines being able to talk, they would say something when they didn't want to give you money. Maybe something like: "not now, I have a headache"?

In Sonora they don't talk yet, but they are bi-lingual. Lizzy

Intercam allows you to write a check up to $4000.00 USD, and receive all in pesos immediately once approved. It takes less than 72 hours once you apply for an account, and they run their background/financial? check on you. Their exchange rate is one of the highest @ Lakeside. There is no fee. Yes they are bilingual.
They will issue a check in pesos also no charge, this however, takes a couple hours

Do you have to keep any funds deposited with them or is the credit rating alone sufficient?

No funds on deposit required....For me this was a great find.....they are open Monday thru Friday.......No ATM fees.....not having to worry about ATM card loss in machine, or card cloning.

As I recall, they required utility bill, my FM3, and passport.
