Thursday's Twitter
Yesterday. with the rumors about police activity, twitter was really really quiet. Not so this morning. Apparently something is happening on the road from Guadalajara to Chapala - an organized partial or full blockage?
And there are rumors that a fake police checkpoint was set up - and rumors about possible police activity on the carreterra between Ajijic and Joco.
So what is really happening? Who knows - but there are repeated tweets about the partial? road blockage - so that is probably real. Unclear as to why it is organized. A protest of some sort?
May be a busy rumor day.
To check twitter - try this link https://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/chapala for Chapala Tweets and this link for Ajijic tweets https://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/ajijic

The organised protest Carr. Guad-Chapala is truckers protesting the price of gas, oil tires and such.

Re: Thursday's Twitter
Busy rumour day. Maybe like the BS from yesterday about "stay off the roads". Which was total bullcrap because some secretary in RC puts out a warning and someone on TOB runs with it. Then someone from RC believes it is so because RC put it out. Crazy, nutty people, getting nuttier by the minute.
Fortunately some smart people kept questioning the source, but the poster couldn't specify where it came from. It died after 3 pages, then the Mod locked the topic.
Time for people to get facts correct BEFORE posting the RUMOURS here. There are more rumours at Lakeside than facts.

Actually there are some reputable tweeters - both milenio and the informador use twitter to communicate as to other newspapers. Ya gotta keep up with technology John rather than diss it!

Re: Thursday's Twitter
I drove to Guadalajara for an appointment at 9:30am this morning then over to Tlaquepaque for some shopping and a late lunch. Didn't see nada there or back. Completely uneventful (other than getting lost in Tlaquepaque, thx for the assist RB). Traffic wasn't even that bad.
Re: Thursday's Twitter
When truckers and buses plan a protest, it builds for days, you will see them parked on both sides of highway into and from GDL. The Federales escort them @ 5 miles an hour....best to avoid the Chapala highway, as one day it took us 2 hours from Periferico to airport.

Re: Thursday's Twitter
I sent out a "tweet" ahead of time saying that I heard Narcos were going to shoot any protesting truckers today......seemed to clear the way.
Jajajaja (Just kidding John)

Re: Thursday's Twitter
I just had an email from someone who did a R/T to Tonala today. He noticed the truckers beginning their staging but nothing of any type movement yet on their part. Maybe manana or possibly Monday to cause real chaos?

I appreciated the warning. It was not "bullcrap" as it turns out. And the person who gave the warning is not crazy or nutty as it turns out. Hard to confirm a source when the source has left to be with their family just in case.
Again, I appreciated the warning. I'd rather read "BS" like that than some of the other BS that shows up on this board.
Thank you Raqueteer.

John:
Since you offered TOB as proof of your contentions - how do you explain the new topic titled: "so the police warning was correct?
In case you do not believe it, here is a link to the topic: http://www.chapala.com/webboard/index.php?showtopic=35604

The only member on TOB with a reasonable explanation. The RC warning had noting to do with a roadblock at the Libriamento.

"I highly doubt the "police warning" which apparentlly came from someone at the Raquet Club, and was never confirmed, had anything to do with the false roadblock on the Libramiento next to Black Coffee."

Big demonstration tomorrow...

Re: Thursday's Twitter
I'm not good at translating...don't you have google translator or something :P
"Tomorrow will be possibly starting at Lazaro Cardenas to Revolucion continuing to Zapotlanejo & enter expanding at Liberacion w/everyone & buses."
I'm embarrassed for the direction part because that is a horrible translation. But whatever it is, it includes all those streets and it's going to be a humungous protest!
This Thursday protesting truckers planted themselves along the highway to Chapala, but tomorrow morning, the demonstration will be much larger, starting at Guadalajara Centro w/everyone & buses. The transportation organization AMOTAC will be leading. Re: Thursday's Twitter
I can tell you this: there were actually notices posted in Ajijic by one of the gangs. The notices said there would be a confrontation with two other gangs as payback. The information came to the police as a result of that.
