Christmas Decorating (I know I am a little early, or late...)
So I am at the phase that many of you have been at and am dejunking the house in anticipation of the eventual move.
I have a lot of Christmas decorations, for the house and tree (garland, ornaments, trees etc). I am getting rid of a lot, but before I get rid of most everything I wanted to know what was available in the area/Guad for repurchase. Do the folks down there celebrate with a decorated tree? Are there the mini-lights? Ribbon by the role for wreaths? Or do I need to start all over with a new kind of decorating?
Points to note: I love Christmas and all it entails and am looking forward to having the time to celebrate and share and entertain. So forgetting about all this isn't the right answer...I currently have a large, historic Victorian house that was on a charity Christmas Open House tour so I have enough decorations for several houses.... ugg....
Unfortuately we will not be in MX at Christmas to experience ourselves, therefore am asking your advice... Thanks!

Yes, folks here do decorate for Christmas. Trees and all.
First of all.......there is nothing you could want for decorating that isn't here. We have collected unusual ornaments at the tiangus for very little money. Fragile little glass angels, hand painted.......and drums and mini-musical instruments. Lots of light strings in all sizes and colors are for sale, so you'll have no problem. Costco and Walmart sell all sized artificial trees (hecho en China). Real trees tend to be rather tired and very expensive.....but are available as well.
I'd sell the majority of your decor at a "house sale". Bear in mind the cost of moving your things.

Re: Christmas Decorating (I know I am a little early, or late...)
It was Christmas Eve and NOTHING was going right.
Mrs. Claus had burned all the cookies. The elves were complaining about not getting paid for the overtime they had worked making toys, and were threatening to go on strike. The reindeer had been drinking eggnog all afternoon. To make matters worse, a few of the other elves had taken the sleigh out for a spin earlier in the day and had crashed it into a tree.
Santa was furious. "I can't believe it! I've got to deliver millions of presents all over the world in just a few hours, and all of my reindeer are drunk, the elves are walking out, and I don't even have a Christmas tree! I sent that stupid little angel out HOURS ago to find a tree and he isn't even back yet! What am I going to do?"
Just then, the little angel opened the front door and stepped in from the snowy night, dragging a Christmas tree. The angel said, "Yo, fat man! Where do you want me to stick the tree this year?"
And thus the tradition of angels atop the Christmas trees came to pass..

Many families have a detailed nativity scene in their homes. Some are table top, some on the floor taking up an interior corner. They remind one of a model train town with the manger scene the focal point. Highly decorated with lights and a painted landscape background.
Trees are also getting big some "traditional" trees are deadwood decorated. In Southern Mexico (Yucatan and Chiapas) they scatter pine needles on the floor for Christmas.
The traditional posadas and other spiritual events are fast being replaced by the commercialism we know so well.
