eSun Solar + Energy Center: Opening Party, Friday June 11 from 4-8pm
Are you interested in reducing or eliminating your CFE electric bill, making a solid return on your investment, all the while creating clean electricity for a better world? Then a solar electric system could be the perfect solution for you. Join us from 4-8pm on Friday June 11 at our new store located in Plaza La Floresta, next to Wal Mart. We ll have cold drinks and appetizers in addition to information on the benefits of investing in a solar electric system. With our years of experience in solar energy, let us show what we can do for you.
For those wanting more in depth information, we ll be providing a free two hour "Solar Electricity Seminar" on Saturday, June 12th from 2-4pm.
See you there!

Re: eSun Solar + Energy Center: Opening Party, Friday June 11 from 4-8pm
Wanted to, but was unable to go. I have always been interested in alternative ways to make electric, heat the house, (do not need that anymore), hot water, etc. I can't believe all the natural assets Mexico has to accomplish that, wind turbines, solar panels in the desert, etc., as well as hybrid cars. Unfortunately for me, these things are priced higher than I can afford. Has anyone been to the ecological house out towards Joco? It is very interesting what they have done. There is a small solar cell on the roof, do not know what it is running, wonder can one have a cell to just run one thing such as air conditioning? That would certainly make the ac more cost effective to many of us. Just think if one did not have to pay the electric bill to run the water pump! So interesting.

Good party and interesting concepts.
Most systems run $16,000 to $30,000US including installation but they can quote better than me. The battery backup seems to run alot and they said it really isn't worth the cost for most people.
The units will run the meter backwards (you'll need to have CFE install a new digital meter).
It was a bit hard to calculate savings as alot was apples to oranges. My bill runs 250kwh per month and they list everything in other formulas so it took a bit to do the math, one suggestion for them would be to calculate monthly averages so that one could easily grab their CFE bill and see the savings.

Re: eSun Solar + Energy Center: Opening Party, Friday June 11 from 4-8pm
Friends of ours recently installed a rooftop solar system. When we asked them about the time frame it would be before the cost/benefit equalled out, they didn't know. When I mentioned the fact that those lenses had to be spotlessly clean to be effective, they were unaware of it. ( A film builds up over a very short time.) Who gets to clean it?
These are good folks who "like" the idea of solar energy. Fine, but it is expensive, and unless the reps. at the solar energy company can address those two issues, I wouldn't consider installing it, even though I "like" the idea, too.

It did seem like most had a break even point of 20 years, at least people I spoke with unless you were a shameless waster of energy and had a home with a carbon footprint of Al Gore's new home in Santa Barbara.

I think two easy relatively inexpensive solar solutions are pool heat and hot water heat. Rather quick payback on both. Creating power to run electrical appliances is definitely more expensive with a far longer ROI.

Re: eSun Solar + Energy Center: Opening Party, Friday June 11 from 4-8pm
Hi! We had a great party on Friday and two full seminars on Saturday.
To answer directly the questions posed here...
The least expensive system we can install runs about $10,000. If you bring in your electric bill we can analyze it and tell you your payback time and ROI right away. Many people make the mistake of calculating only simple payback and forget to include the rising cost of electricity, which has gone up around %15 ever year on average for the last 6 years or so. Yes it s true! 48% of electricity in Mexico is made from petroleum.
If your electrical bill is in the DAC, the highest consumption tier, your payback time for the solar investment is only around 6-7 years! The solar panels are guaranteed for 25 years so it is a great investment... unless you think that the price of petroleum will go down over time, these numbers should hold well into the future.
It is worth mentioning that we can arrange the contract with the CFE within days. We plan on having the digital meters in stock so you won`t have to wait for the CFE to do it. However in the meanwhile, the analog meters spin backwards so you can get the full utilization of your system right away. We have a demo system set up in our office in Plaza Florista across from Walmart so anyone can stop by and see a functioning system in action!
If you have any further questions please don t hesitate to contact us. It s great to see so much interest!
Jeff
PS... The panels do not have to be spotlessly clean to work. Even if they are covered in a thin film of dust they will still produce at about %90. We recommend rinsing them off with a hose once a month which takes less than 5 minutes.
Battery based systems have a much longer ROI, and therefore we don t normally work with them unless you are in a remote area and need power. IF you want a source of back up power, it is cheaper to install a home standby generator with an auto switch.

Thank you for your informative reply.
Please tell me how much space the panels take up on the roof?

Re: eSun Solar + Energy Center: Opening Party, Friday June 11 from 4-8pm
No problem, that`s why we`re here.
Each KW takes up 10m2 of space. A KW consists of around 6 panels and produces approx 4.5 kw hours daily average on an annual basis. Most systems we install in the Chapala area are between 1-2 KW systems.
Also I wanted to address directly your previous concerns regarding dirty panels and payback time.
I have a property on the beach with solar panels. Due to the wind and loose sand, the panels are constantly getting covered with a film of sand. Even in that ¨extreme¨ environment, we only rinse them off with a hose once every 10 days or so. The days in which we rinse them off we notice only a small boost in production of maybe %5 over the rest of the days. Dirty panels are really not an issue. What is of a much larger concern is shade, which can much more drastically reduce output. During our site visit, we use a tool that will measure the effects of shade produced by any trees, buildings or other obstacles over the course of the entire year. Using this information we place the panels where shading doesn t occur or has only minimal impact.
To your second concern, if your electrical bill is in the DAC, your payback occurs between 6 and 7 years. When we quote a system we provide a fully detailed and customized financial analysis including payback, ROI and NPV of your solar investment. We have found that due to the historically rising costs of electricity, this investment has a much better ROI than just about any strictly financial investment you can make at the bank or investment house these days.
We realize that we would have far fewer customers if the only motivation for installing solar panels were to¨feel good.¨ But if you can feel good and make a sound investment at the same time, it s almost a no brainer!
