CheenaGringo wrote:I first purchased Ford Aerostars starting in 1987 and drove those until 2004 when I switched to Ford Windstars. I would estimate that between 1987 and now, I have probably exceeded a million miles on this series of vehicles. Have the last 24 years been a perfect driving experience in every way? Hell no! But this choice of vehicles has been a personal evaluation and has no bearing on what others may choose to drive.
Personally, I don't get the need to denigrate the choices made by others!
A great record.

Re: QUESTIONNAIRE ON VEHICLES
I have friends in Guadalajara who have always purchased Nissans in Guadalajara and they have had their warranties honored. They have bought cars here for 20 years. A friend in SJC had some warranty work done on her Honda van in Guadalajara - US car and they honored the warranty in Mexico. So it probably depends on which dealer you use.

I guess I wasn't clear. OK on new car warranties. I was talking about buying used which is what CB wants to do. Cars ingeneral are higher priced in mexico than in the US. They don't offer the deals here and insurance is double.

Re: QUESTIONNAIRE ON VEHICLES
We have always used Consumer Report in our decision making process. Not only the brand name being important but also the year it was built, some older models stand up better than the newer ones. Plus of course mileage, record of care and where it spent the majority of its life. (When you can get that info)
It’s really pretty simple. Check Consumers Reports, pick out several you think might like then pick out used cars that fit (we picked three because we were going up to California) and go try them out. So far this method has worked well for us.

It's a crossover so it's a little higher off the road than a compact car and more room inside - doesn't bottom out on the topes. It comes fully loaded. You see a lot of them around now.
Actually interested in Suzuki next time. What's service like around here? Service is the reason we didn't get a Subaru Forester. We loved our Subarus. Had three of them including the sports car which was a blast to drive.

Re: QUESTIONNAIRE ON VEHICLES
I've had a series of Subaru's in the past........loved 'em all. Very sweet cars.
Friend of mine was a frustrated race car driver and REALLY loved that sports car. Even managed to wrap it around a tree playing Indy 500, but managed to get lucky and walk away.
They don't have any dealerships here?

Yup, the SVX. We got caught in a blizzard in northern NM once in ours. It just plowed right through drifts of 2 feet or more. Loved that car.
Looks like there's one on Avenue Vallarta in GDL.

Correct newer subes OK on gas miliage but older ones because of AWD (all wheel drive) can be a little harder on gas especially if you have a lead foot.
No Suburu dealers in mexico.

My friends have a real old Subaru, have had great luck with it, but won't buy another one because there's no dealers in GDL.

Re: QUESTIONNAIRE ON VEHICLES
Looks like they came to Mexico in 2007 or so with 6 dealers. Can't see
how many dealers they have now. I could only find the original 2006
press release and nothing on how they are doing. I had no idea as
one time friends spent months looking for old Loyale parts down here.

Here is the website for the Guadalajara/Zapopan dealership:
http://www.subaruvallarta.com/
And the website for what appears to be all of their Mexico dealerships:

And who cares, there are a handful of Subarus here when compared to Toyota. Nissan, Honda, Ford, Chevy, Mazda, etc.
