Termination Pay

I have a friend who is moving back to the states . She wants to do the right thing. The maid has worked for her 2 1/2 years once a week for 3hrs per week.

I looked on Rolly's site (www.rollybrook.com} but it was last updated in 2008.

Kudos to your friend for doing the right thing.
The best way is to contact an accountant versed in labour law or a lawyer also knowledgeable in that field. They will do all the calculations and have the maid involved go in and sign for the money and make sure that they understand the paper that they are signing.
The accountant or lawyer won't cost very much...generally around 200 pesos.
And the amount of the "finiquito" won't be very much either. BUT, it will make an enormous difference to the maid.
If you can help her find another job, I'm sure that she would appreciate it.

Very good advice. There are sources of info to learn the correct amount to pay for termination, but having a professional do the finiquito is the right way.
