This morn'n... me & the mrs. & the other Rory... went out for a boat ride to see Mescal Island.... ( second time for me... thanx Bob )

The Lake wuz covered in a lazy haze... then it hit me!!.... Pollution!!.... Guadalajara!! Smokealot Now U Big City Folk are probably used to such things,

but, being from Saskatchewan where air pollution is someone passing gas, I wuz shocked at the extent of the noxious gases hovering over

our beautiful lake.

Just say'n is all... cough... cough.. cough..

Not pollution. The mountains block it and the GDL pollution doesn't travel that far.

Most likely temperature differences or moisture evaporating from the Lake.

@ hockables - Let me see if I can get this right:

1) You were there.

2) johninajijic was not. (Or was he?)

3) You detected pollution with the use of your five senses.

4) johninajijic detected "... temperature differences or moisture evaporating from the Lake," based upon his not being there (or perhaps his sixth sense).

Damn, I'm having a hard time deciding which one of you two I should believe! Maybe somebody was (or is) blowing smoke up your ..... !

lol! lol! lol!

Certainly a possibility. Where we spend part of the year at 7,000 feet in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, often traveling from there to the lowland jungles of the Palenque area, the air is pristine and pure most of the time except when warm breezes blow invisible but impure and dangerously unhealthy minute particles of human and animal excrement which one then breathes in just in the process of living. Many poor people in Chiapas don´t have access to toilets and open fields often substitute for outhouses. However, during the April burning season just before the rains start big time in May, the air pollution from agricultural burning becomes overwhelming, visibility becomes very poor and there is the distinct and all-pervasive smell of smoke from that extensive agricultural burning. There is no mistaking this serious air pollution for moisture from Chiapas´ many natural lakes and reserviors. CB´s observation seems to me to be the most likley here at the height of the dry season but there is also no reason to believe that Metropolitan Guadalajara´s serious air pollution from industry and internal combustion engines never drifts down to Lake Chapala.
