Re: Happy Thanksgiving
My favorite Canadian story is that the day I arrived here some 18 years ago, a fellow Texan banged on my door to give the "newbie" some advice. He said "Don't pay your maid or gardener more than 20 pesos/hour because that will make it hard for all of us. Then he said "Stay away from the Canadians, they are wierd."
I am happy to report that in my time here I now have more Canadian friends than Texan friends.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my wierd friends.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Great story. Kind of reminds me of a local gringo real estate agent I knew, the kind who never bothers to learn Spanish, who warned me when I was starting my house building that "The workers will steal your materials- you need to count all the empty cement bags and watch them like a hawk."
Not only did my building crew not steal anything, they were always trying to save me money. When we ran out of framing lumber and I asked how much more I needed to buy, one said, "We did a job at my cousin's house and the framing lumber is still there- we could use that". When I went to one of my maestro's houses to pay him his finiquito at the end of the job, he invited me in for dinner. Another invited me to his wedding.
