A friend is looking for an unfurnished house/condo moderately priced and out of the fast lane. They speak Spanish. Familiar with the area but been gone a long time. South side would be fine. Anywhere without gringo prices. Any ideas?

Yes, the southside would be the best pricing for sure if you don't mind being far away (relatively speaking) from all the amenities and social activities. After that I would suggest Jocotepec or SJC......
