RIP Robert Snyder of Bobby's, Roberto's and Escondido's

Bobby passed away yesterday at age 82.

His place directly on the water in Ajijic was one of the first eateries we went to here and we became regulars.  

He also had a place on the carretera (it had previously been El Serape, now Simply Joyful).  

He moved away for awhile, down to the beach but returned a few years ago and opened Escondido to the west of Ajijic.

He always had a great menu and great waitstaff. He achieved a very high rate of consistency not often found here. Always a fun place to eat, excellent prices.

He was quite a character and had a droll sense of humour. His resiliency in overcoming health problems had us all thinking he was immortal. RIP Bobby.

Before the "El Sarape" place Bobby also had a successful restaurant for several years on the carretera across from Strom-White movers.

Yes. Previous to Janine's. Had lots of good meals there. Took some friends from the coast there and we were sitting under the large painting of the two zebras. We decided that the zebras (one had very long eyelashes) were looking very satisfied and definitely post coital. Bobby laughed uproariously and said he'd never see the painting the same way again.
