Process: Driving into Mexico
It has been a number of years since I have driven into Mexico as a tourist.... been flying in/out lately.
In the past one could/would go online to get an FMM & a TIP for the car before leaving home; briefly stop into Customs at the border to verify these and be on the way.
Looks like I'll be driving in this winter again. Any feedback from those of you who do this 'dance' annually these days? What's the process like now?

I drove into Mexico from the US at Laredo Bridge 2 a couple of weeks ago. It was at about 6:45AM and I was the only car crossing - drove right through and never stopped and nobody even gave me a second look. Gates to Mexico were wide open.
First time that has ever happened!!

But Ezzie I presume that you are already a Temporal or Permanente, no? I'm looking for what a Tourist must do.

OK, sorry, I missed that. Yes, a Permanente driving a legal Jalisco plated vehicle.

I think that if you get your TIP and tourist card online, you have to state the day you will cross and have to cross on that date. This could be problematic, considering that, as we know, "s**t happens".

They have eliminated the stickers, but title still needs to be shown at the border to get the TIP. I always did it at Columbia bridge where staff have over the years proved to be competent & even friendly. If you are driving down the same car as you did before, your car may be in the system, could expedite things.
Pretty sure tourist visa is now just a stamp in your passport - it is for those flying. Seems the only reason to get a tourist visa online would be if you were concerned about getting less than 180 days.

They still use the FMMs at drive-in crossings, according to other reports I've read from those who drive. At this point, it's only when flying that they only stamp the passports.
