Using Facebook with Telcel
Does Telcel plan charge to chat on Facebook. I had logged on and it says your carrier may use instant messaging and your carrier may have a charge.

Your carrier would use data when not connected to the internet. You get 3 GB of free data with the 200P Amigo plan. You could chat on Facebook for a year with that data (but don't watch any videos).

Do you get charged for instant messaging using wifi only?

When you are connected to Wifi, you don't get charged for anything you do online on your phone and it doesn't use up your phone data. You are already paying for your Wifi connection and it's working off that, not your phone data.
When you are using phone data, not Wifi, you have unlimited data for some social media sites, i.e. it doesn't use up whatever amount of data you get with your phone plan or package, but I'm not sure if Facebook is one of them.

I would use wifi. Just don’t know why it says to use Facebook you may be using instant messaging. I don’t know what that is.

Don't worry about it. It's just a standard message. https://www.dummies.com/article/technology/social-media/facebook/what-is-facebook-messenger-221164/

"Messaging"... as opposed to 'texting'. Messaging uses data, texting does not.
Just as Mudgirl suggested... don't worry about it. It's a Facebook lawyer statement of 'don't blame us if your carrier charges you for using our facilities'....

Yes, Facebook Messenger does use data..........with data turned off it won't even send (if not connected via WIFI). Internationally, you have to turn Roaming on when not connected to WIFI for it to work.

Everyone has told you, over and over, that WHEN YOU ARE CONNECTED TO WIFI YOU AREN'T USING CELL DATA, IT ISN'T CONNECTED TO TELCEL AT ALL. I don't know why you can't understand this. You keep asking the same thing again and again.
You could remove your SIM card from your phone, pretending you don't even have a Telcel plan, and you can still use Facebook or do anything else online if you are connected to WIfi. Your Wifi and Telcel are not connected in any way. Your phone is just a device, it can give you an internet connection from anything it is connected to. Your Wifi, someone else's Wifi, your Telcel plan, a SIM card from any other provider.
And you still don't understand that YOU DON'T GET CHARGED for using Facebook or doing anything else online even if you are NOT connected to Wifi. It simply uses the data that you get with your phone plan. And Facebook is probably one of the social media sites that Telcel lets you use without it using up your cell data at all.
You pay a monthly fee for your Wifi. It is probably unlimited. You can do anything on your computer or phone without any extra charges. You pay a monthly fee for your Telcel connection. Your plan gives you a certain amount of data each month. THERE ARE NO OTHER CHARGES.
You don't even have to turn off cell data on your phone if your phone is connected to Wifi. It will automatically use the Wifi connection, not your cell data.
Forget about that message you got about messaging maybe incurring extra charges. It doesn't apply to anything you are doing.

Really? When the poster has been told the same thing over and over and still doesn't get it? What was uncalled for, a complete explanation I tried to give?
I used capital letters to emphasize the basic concepts.
