Anyone know if it made it all the way to the North Shore? Hoping for good news since those things can cause damage in the area between Ajijic and Jocotepec.

If you go to this later video (start around 20 second mark) it appears to dissipate by end of video.

The waterspout lasted around 10 mins and didn't make it to shore. Here is a more specific timelapse of the waterspout that shows 8 minutes of it's existence.

A waterspout or wind snake was recorded in Lake Chapala, for several minutes the natural phenomenon caused the admiration of the residents who did not miss the opportunity to record it. These are caused by the fusion of cold air and hot air, so experts say.
“This phenomenon occurs mainly due to the interaction of cold and hot air masses, so when this interaction exists, this vortex is formed; the mass of hot air rises when it mixes with the hot air and these vortices are generated that when they touch the surface of the water they take on water and this cone of water begins to form”, mentions Alma Delia, meteorologist.
The natural phenomenon that is generated once or twice a year in Lake Chapala did not generate damages, nor did it leave injured people. "Its trajectory was towards Tuxcueca, Tizapán towards the area of the mountains and in this municipality we did not have any affectation of this phenomenon", mentions Lorenzo Salazar, element of the Chapala Fire Department.
The experts mentioned that said waterspout registered a height of between 50 meters and two kilometers, captivating everyone before such a visual spectacle.

Thanks I see it well now. They interest me as I have seen several while working on lakes in British Columbia. Those ones sounded like a train coming even though there were no railway tracks for miles.mexbound wrote:Cypress, Try using this link to see the Waterspout:
