Many people see vitamins as an inexpensive and risk-free way to prevent disease. But just as the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire, vitamins are neither inexpensive nor risk free, and they do not actually prevent disease. In fact, they may make things worse.

Re: Myths About Vitamins are Hard to Dislodge
One thing I learned a long time ago, that most people are not aware of, is that if you are going to take vitamins, which I do not agree are useless, they do not absorb properly if you simply pop a vitamin. Your body absorbs vitamins more readily if you take them with foods that contain those vitamins naturally, otherwise they can just pass through your system without any benefit.
So, for instance, a vitamin C tablet will absorb more readily when taken with a glass of orange juice than with a glass of water. A B-complex will absorb more readily if taken with a meal that contains B vitamins in the food.
There are also vitamins and minerals which deplete others. So you might think you are doing yourself good by taking calcium, but it could lower your levels of some other vital nutrient.

When the pandemic started I decided to load up on all highly touted supplements watching carefully for side effects. Some time later I started getting palpitations. I went to my doctor and he scheduled a 24hr ekg monitor for the following week. In the meantime I decided to stop all supplements. The palpitations went away and I never went for the ekg monitor.

Many years ago, my then boyfriend had some health issue, can't remember what, that the doctor prescribed zinc for. He started to get palpitations, and found out that can be caused by high levels of zinc. Which I seem to recall you saying you were taking.
