Gully Washer
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain was forecast between the hours of 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. In true Mexican style, it was late. Started at 6:45 a.m. and by 7:20 a.m., I had 1.4 inches in my rain gauge. Can you say "gully washer"? Still raining lightly here in Riberas and I currently have river waterfrontage. My girls just got picked up for their walk. They were all excited about puddle jumping and wading.

Our final total for this AM was 2.08 in Ajijic Centro using a digital gauge that self empties and wireless to indoor unit (don't have to get my feet wet or wait till rain stops for a reading). Priceless!

I ended up at 1.5 inches in Riberas. Friend next to Las Fuentes in Jocotepec only got 0.12 inches. She has the digital gauge as well.

It blew into my living room under the sliders which is from the north. That surprised me. Wound up with 4 of my 5 dogs in bed with me.

My rain gauge says 2.2 inches this morning, The gardner came and dug into wet ground to plant 15 flowers easily...it feels like we are going to get some more soon...

Re: Gully Washer
mine agrees with you BisbeeGal. I too am in Ajijic Centro but using an old fashioned guage. I welcome it.

The combination of the two storms yesterday gave me a total of 3 inches of rain in Riberas. Old fashioned manual gauge.

I guess the ground is still too hard for them. My neighbors are from Oaxaca and they go crazy collecting them for food when they come out...

Oh yeah, had a whole squad of them come out in our yard in lower San Antonio. A lot of them ended up on their backs on the sidewalk, stuck to the tile by the thin layer of water. Several eventually righted themselves and flew off, very slow and lumbering flights. Sparrows tasted several as well.

Just spotted half a dozen in the pool, trying to learn how to swim; not going well for them.

Re: Gully Washer
interesting have yet to see one. My neighbors go nuts when they come out and try to get as many as possible but so far nothing... I guess another rain and they will be out in my area.
