Hi Everyone! I am looking to buy some Monk fish in the area, to cook at home. I know Tabakara sells it on their menu but I am unable to locate it at any fish place. Any ideas?

I haven't looked to buy it since I eat it almost weekly at Tabarka.

Sr. Google indicates it's probably called pescado rape in Mexico. Though often fish has very local names in MX.

They also have MonkFish at Los Compardres. I know the chef there goes to the Fish Abastos in Guadalajara every week.

fyi, Tabarka shops at the abastos for its monkfish and all its fish, too.

They are located on the second floor of The Cocktail Bar on Constitucion in Ajijic.

Ask the fishmonger in San Antonio to get it for you or use shark. When the pacific market opened I got it from them but I have not gotten any for a long time...I have not seen shark for a while either.
