Emission Testing Suspended

A post was made on FB by a well know "car person" that the emission testing program has been suspended due to the high failure rates.

Does anyone have other sources confirming this situation?

What I saw on FB was that the FINES and ENFORCEMENT have been suspended. But the program continues.

Also read that they have changed the requirements for older cars, many of which failed.

A poorly thought-out plan. Wouldn't be surprised if it was abandoned down the road, as have other attempts at this.

Not like this is rocket science; been in existence NOB for decades and it is do-able, but not with so few inspection points and the lack of understanding of how to deal with older vehicles that poorer folks cannot afford to bring up to standards.

Well it seems to me that there is a very large number of old, decrepit vehicles still on the roads in Mexico.

It is a ripoff and ineffective until more Mexican vehicles are forced to use it.
