Canada facing pressure to nix pricey PCR test requirements

Not sure if I agree with the logic about cancelling tests altogether, but I do agree the extreme cost of a PCR test is prohibitive. I was "lucky" to get mine here for $2900p as opposed to one local hospital's $6900p charge, but that's still pretty expensive for many people. I have never read why the cost is so high.

Agree. The cheaper antigen test for those with vaccination certificates and the PCR for the unvaccinated seems like a reasonable compromise.
Just downloaded my vaccination certificate and made six copies. Also checked the code with the QR reader on my phone and it worked just fine. Now I can go to Canada but it's, er, getting chilly up there in Ontario.

If you do go, be aware that there are two lineups. The left-side office is for testing, and people seem to just walk in. The right-side main office usually has a table to take your name, but doesn't seem to care that you already have an appt, so I had to notify them, which prompted a response from someone inside, but I still had to wait.
