Netflix just came out with a good movie with one of my favorite actors, Michael Keaton. “Worth” is based on true events in the aftermath of 9/11. I hope you can watch it in Mexico.

Excellent film. Michael Keaton is wonderful in the role and as a bonus you get a little bit of Stanley Tucci.

BTW, if you like Tucci, HBO Max has his first season of Searching for Italy and if you are a foodie, it is brilliant.

Sorry to drive this thread away from its original intent. If you're a Sling subscriber, you can stream Searching for Italy too. Excellent series!

I just finished watching "Worth". Very well done but I still don't think that anyone can put value on a human being based on their salary at the time of death. It simply is not possible.
We watched the whole thing live on CNN that morning. Horrifying.

I agree with you but in that lawsuit some value had to be arrived at that at least 80% of claimants could agree on. Otherwise the lawsuit would have never gone forward and indemnifications would have taken many years.

Interesting on many levels, well acted but not great by any means.

I watched it last night via Mexico Netflix. I agree it was well done, but I just ended up feeling miserable afterward.

yes since it was a real story , it was not uplifting to say the least. They did find a way to compensate people but all were not compensated and it is hard to believe they could not find a solution to the plight of the gay man who lost his partner and was told sorry, in your state the law does not recognize your situation..That was one of the most depressing scene in my book. All had lost people they love and that was depressing enough but some of the twists of some people made it even more depressing.

Agree with that assessment brigitte.
All had lost people they love and that was depressing enough but some of the twists of some people made it even more depressing.
My heart ached for the young man who's partner died and I also ached for the young woman who found out that her firefighter husband had two families.

It seems that they could have given the money to the other woman the fireman had without telling his wife and that they could have come up with an exception for the partner of the mgay man who had died . It is not like there were a bunch of cases like that. They were so square and lawyer like that it wa very depressing. the lawyer bureaucrat type versus the pwople who had lost their love one was even more striking. The big deal is that that they came to changes because they wanted to achieve their goal and not lose the funds , not because of the people who were involved.
That was pretty sad altogether. The acting was excellent but they chose a downer of a story to tell..

Well, there was nothing uplifting about the event itself or the aftermath. It was a no win situation for all concerned. And has continued to be a no win situation for the last twenty years.

15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis. Why Afghanistan suffered, we’ll never know.

Osama bin Laden was the supposed mastermind behind 911. He was originally hiding out in Afghanistan and so the search went there for him.

Yes, but do we invade a country for just one man?
Too many unanswered questions just like invading Iraq searching for WMDs.

especially when the border with Pakistan is really not under control and Bin Laden could go back and forth and  the movement was funded by saoud money
Yes many points are not very clear and many people got killed for nothing
A Pretty sad episode of history..another one amongst many. A rich saoud has managed to screw up the American psyche and has succeeded to have a 20 year war and destroyed a generation og Afghan not to mention have thousands of people killed
