Newbies... How to fill prescriptions Lakeside?
Mexico Newbies Lakeside.
I have a BP medicine to get filled. Will any Farmacia refill it, or do I need to see a Doctor here first for the prescription?
What are the best Farmicias Lakeside. We live in San Juan Cosala, but it's all local here.
Gracias!

No prescription required unless it's for an antibiotic or a narcotic.
Try to always maintain a back up supply (at least a month's worth) of any med you take.
Walmart and Farmacia de Guadalajara are probably the biggest suppliers of meds with the largest inventories and the best prices.
The embossed price on the end of the box is the maximum price that can be charged to the public. Be very aware of this because some smaller pharmacies put a sticker OVER that price and then proceed to give you a discount (which is not really a discount at all).

I find that I can get most of my OLD person pills replaced here. However many times the medicines while exactly the same, have one name in Mexico but has a different name up north.. So with time, or the help from your lakeside Doctor, and perhaps also Google, everything should work out just fine. Oh and cost of most Meds are quite reasonable in Mexico.

I go to Farmacia Similares in Ajijic for my generic medications. Cheaper than Guadalajara Farmacia. Also, Mondays the price is discounted 25%.
As someone else said, the names of the meds are similar but different. I pay less than one-fifth what it costs in the US. This will not be the case if it's a medication that is patented, but the costs will still be less.

The "discount" pharmacy game rages rampant here, with fake pricing. But generally my experience is that the local WalMart has much higher prices on most things than the Farm Simi. And then the odd thing, surprisingly not. So for years now I just don't bother going to more than one place.

These medications may be "similar" to the prescribed medication, but not necessarily identical to what the doctor ordered, in some instances.
