what to wear
Are shorts and short sleeve shirts/ colorful t-shirts going to be comfortable in Ajijic later this week. Or should I have long pants? Also my travel partner wants to know what are women wearing there?

Re: what to wear
Casual, comfortable is the key and shorts are good most of the year. Summer months are quite pleasant during the rainy season.

Re: what to wear
Women are wearing shorts, pants, sundresses, etc. I haven't worn pants since February. Just no socks with sandles......lol.

Bring a sweater for evening and a sweatshirt for mornings. Or better yet buy a Ajijic sweatshirt.

Also depends how bad the mosquitos are this year. Make sure you pack some good insect repellent. I like Repel, based on lemon Eucalyptus oil. It costs a fortune to ship down here.
Canuck Bob, put some damn pants on, you are scaring the newcomers!

Thanks for the replies they were very informative. Makes packing easier. Where can we buy Ajijic sweat shirts?

Re: what to wear
There is a shirt shop near the plaza, across from the church, that sells all stuff "Ajijic". They may have some.

Re: what to wear
Dress your age. Women past 50 rarely look good in short shorts. No man over 50 should wear a tank top in public.
Skirts are a great choice here in summer and also for traveling; just roll them up in the suitcase, and they don't need as frequent washings as slacks.

Low 60s in the morning. High 70s in the day. Capris are good for ladies or walking shorts. No Daisy Mays 🤨

My gardener, born and bred in SAT, always wears shorts. Can´t remember seeing him in long pants for at least 20 years.
Business and professional people (Mexicans), almost always wear long pants.

Well when we go to Guadalajara on a weekend jaunt I would be wearing pants but not around here.

My take on "what to wear" is: take a look at yourself in a full length mirror before hitting the streets. When I see men and women overweight and over 50 wearing shorts and tees, I gotta wonder.

Agree, Gringal. I've always thought they ought to give full length mirrors out at the airport to all new arrivals.

Oh hell, just wear whatever. Make believe you’re in Walmart.

And, as for the warm weather factor encouraging shorts...consider what people in a REALLY warm climate have worn for centuries: long white robes. Hmmm?
Personally, I've found the most comfortable garb is loose clothing, and Mexican shops have a great selection of it.
