Thrift shops. I'd start at Barbara's.

A piece of round wooden closet rod, from the lumber yard, will make at least half a dozen. Smooth the cut ends, and oil with vegetable oil. The more modern ones with 'handles' have no advantage.

I saw stainless steel ones on amazon where you can set the thickness with various rings that go on the ends. Looks pretty slick. No more guessing. I may buy one myself.

Thanks CBob! I didn't even know stainless steel rolling pins existed... and they all will ship to Mexico. I like the idea of stainless steel because you can chill it and it would be easier to clean and the dough would be less likely to stick to it.
It just went on my wish list!

Anyone remember those rolling pins that were clear plastic, could be filled with water and put in the freezer or fridge? They were a Tupperware product, which they don't make anymore. They were cool. A friend told me she occasionally runs across them in secondhand stores in Canada, and you can find them on ebay, but they are considered an antique and not cheap.

I use an empty wine bottle for rolling. If you don't have an empty, here's a quick solution

I'd have to pour it down the drain... buying one would be cheaper. LOL
