To be technically correct, it was first posted by Mudgirl as part of another thread. Whatever, still good advice.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
Good video. Lots of good ideas. However, I do all my sanitizing outside in an enclosed patio.

I didn’t like seeing all this plastic bags and other containers inside the house. So one of them falls to the floor and you just say “oops!”

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
Agree, maybe there for the making of the video. Unpacking outdoors with water supply and sanitizing solution seems to be the solution.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
How do you stay 6ft away from the cashier in the markets when paying for your food? Seems you would be trapped on 3 sides by people in close proximity and face to face with the cashier in small area. I think the cashier is the most deadly person in the store, coming in close contact with so many people every day. How do you avoid this part of shopping? Apart from home delivery, of course.

Many stores in the U.S. are closing every other register and also putting tape marks on the floor to separate people waiting in line. In addition many are installing plexiglass sneeze guards between the cashier and the customer. It's not perfect but life must go on.Trailrunner wrote:How do you stay 6ft away from the cashier in the markets when paying for your food? ....

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
I read that. Nice, but I don't live in the US and I have yet to hear of that happening here. Hence the question.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
I am confused and stressed out. Please be kind in your responses. I am 67 and my husband is dying from small-cell lung cancer. I have been going to the grocery store once a week or as needed myself and recently been wearing latex gloves and a washable mask...is that still dangerous for us?
I've thought about using Walmart's on-line service and delivery.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
Be wary of Walmart's on line order and delivery service. Many people are not receiving everything they ordered but still paid for everything. The delivery people are not wearing masks or gloves.
Short version is that I think you are safer doing what you're doing. Besides the gloves and mask, be sure to stay as far away from other people as you can. When you get home, discard the mask and gloves into the washing machine. Then wash your hands and organize your perishables. Non perishables can stay in the car, windows up and in the sun for a couple of days if possible. It gets very hot inside the car and should deactivate the virus easily.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
Good advice from Ferret. I take it a step further upon returning from my rare ventures into confined public places. I shower, wash hair, and clothes go into the wash.

Re: Safe Grocery Shopping
I agree Trailrunner.
I just had mail delivered. It's parked in the sun with a rock holding it down. Then I came in and washed my hands...again.
