Trailrunner, you are very correct. He was a great man, father, Abuelo, Tio, y Hermano. I will miss greeting him when we walked into Lety's. I grieve with his family. Via con Dios Don Manuel. Descansa en Paz

Re: QDEP Don Manuel Montes
It was the best funeral I have ever attended - if that can be said about a funeral. It was his style and I bet he designed it.
There were mariachis and tequila, crowds of family and friends, and so much love. As the casket was carried out of the church everyone stood and clapped as he went by.
The processoon started up to the panteón, then we suddenly made a detour to the restaurant where he was taken in one last time. More tequila and spirited mariachi music!
Eventually they brought him back out and we resumed a somber walk up to the carretrra with a transito truck providing traffic control. Then we suprisingly passed the road to the panteón and went into where Lety's used to be and paused in the shade for more tequila and music.
After awhile there we resumed and accessed the panteón. The casket was laid on the pedestal and opened for viewing. More tequila and mariachi music! The family spoke, more hugs and tears, and prayers were said.
Adios, Chino, you did it your way and it was a life well-lived. DEP

Oh, yes. That happy smile will be missed. Thank you TR for the beautiful description of the funeral. It was very touching. I was reading it to a friend who is not on this board and found tears running down my face.

Re: QDEP Don Manuel Montes
What is QDEP supposed to mean? It appears to refer to died but how does it infer that.

I think it is R.I.P. in English.
