Re: Equifax
I did it yesterday and qualified. When I passed it on to some friends, some qualified and some didn’t.

They will send you a check or you can opt for some credit security thing. I selected getting a check.

Re: Equifax
Hopefully those of us who applied will get something, but don't count on US$125.

Anything is better than nothing. The data breach already exposed too much personal info so I’m not worried.

Re: Equifax
How would I know if I already had credit monitoring? Is that something that I would have signed up for and am paying for? Yes, I was impacted but was not sure about saying I had credit monitoring.

Update
Sorry AOC, but Equifax probably won’t be paying people $125 apiece
By Jon Levine
July 27, 2019 | 11:28am
________
"But only $31 million has been earmarked for the payments, and the more who file claims, the less each person gets.
If all 147 million entitled to money request it, they would get just 21 cents apiece."
AOC quickly tried to backtrack.
“Okay everyone UPDATE on Equifax: for most people the better deal is 10 years of free credit monitoring,” AOC said in a follow-up tweet, urging her followers to pass on the cash payment and instead take another offer from the company.
“There’s apparently a run on settlements so there’s anxiety people are going to get 16 cent checks. But if you choose 10 years of credit monitoring, Equifax *must* cover it.”

Has anyone 'ever received a substantial' amount of money?
If I remember correctly the most I've ever received was around $15. to $20. dollars, after waiting forever.

So what? It will be 16 cents more than ‘I had before I took a few seconds to fill out the form. I’ll no doubt before 10 years is up.

Re: Equifax
sampati,
I've read that one of the free services such as Credit Karma is sufficient to prove coverage. I can show coverage via Credit Karma but I chose to take the credit report option.

Re: Equifax
Reading through the settlement, as usual the lawyers win, with what looks like 4 firms splitting $77.5 million (25%) of the settlement and another $3 million in expenses. The class representatives (I suspect lawyers or friends of same) are getting $2500 each. The rest of us are splitting whatever is left on a pro rata basis, so receiving less than $125 is possible depending on how many people sign up. Although the settlement also seems to increase if less than the expected number of folks sign up you could receive more.

"...consumers were never going to get $125, says Ted Frank, director of litigation for Hamilton Lincoln. “That’s down to $6 or $7 [per consumer] now. Maybe even less than that,”
