Time to obtain a RT renewal?

Sonia had posted on TOB that new issuances of visas were taking 3 months, as half or more of the INM employees had been diverted to work on the visas for the flood of migrants over the southern border. In the office she had visited, 3/4 of the employees were gone.

She said nothing about renewals, and my RT is due for renewal in mid-October. I need to come back to do this, but am not sure how much time to allot in MX. Has anyone here done a renewal recently, or know of so eone who has, and how long it took? Thx!

Your Residente Temporal is a 'residence visa'. So, INM assumes that you are residing in Mexico and that you have adopted the patience required to understand "Mañana". If you need to leave during the renewal 'tramite', you may apply to INM, and purchase a letter of permission for a trip of up to 60 days outside of Mexico.
You may apply for renewal of your visa anytime, up to 30 days prior to its expiry date. So, your 'window of opportunity' is mid-September to the mid-October expiry date. Then, you wait........Que sera, sera.
