New law regarding domestic help

In France the cost of an employee is 50% , the cleaning ladies get 30 euros an hour minimum but they have to pay taxes.. the employer can also deduct some of the cost from their taxes..

A lady friend of mine is making $24.00 an hour. Several clients per day.

At 30 euro an hour it is not easy to fng someone and they want coffee when they come in in the morning and they do not do window and this and that...

We have spring clean and also have a labor contract drawn up by an attorney for our gardener, which is renewed each year.

I try not to get my panties in a bunch over things that haven't happened yet. I also converse with the couple who help us around the house and I've explained that I have enough to pay them an above average hourly rate, a bonus at Christmas and other perks, but I cannot afford health insurance or a formal severance. They are happy with the arrangement and I hope I never lose them.

The formal severance is a legal requirement, which you will have to pay eventually; unless they quit & you can prove it. If you sell your home, you cannot close without the formal severance, finiquito, as a part of the procedure.

I'm surprised these people working " under the table" get any assistance at all from the labor board.

Explaining to people why you do not want to follow the law is a waste of time. When people get pissed off for whatever reason and go to the labor board, good luck to you explainng you were more than generous and therefor did not want to follow the rule..
You are better off paying what you have to pay and pay lees per hour, legally speaking..

How does a worker getting paid cash and not paying income tax even prove they worked for you or even work at all? Just curious.

They lie and their verbal word MUST be disproven by documents or witnesses of the emlpoyer, they will offer false witnesses so beware.

My take on it is that most of the maids and gardeners around here won't be signing up for anything. They will continue to roll along under the table collecting far above the normal pay for these jobs elsewhere in Jalisco.

They charge what the market will bear. The area s more expensive than other areas to live in as well.. so the salaries are up.. A mason in CHiapas gets 200 pesos a day and the helper 100 pesos a day, try to get someone here to work for that in construction.Meanwhile in Cancun they make more...supply and demand..

The problem is that is an employee is unhappy they can go to the labor board and the employer will usually lose if the law is not followed.
Frst we need to have details on the law and how it works. if SS and IMSS are around 10% I do not have much of a problem with it , if it is 36% as mentionned t is a different story.. I would think the 36% is the cost of the employee and t includes vacations, alguinado etc.. and that most employees get. My cleaning lady turned down IMSS because her husband has it.. that may not be correct ut it all has to be sorted out.. no point pannicking.

Correct but with the new system the government will know what they make between all the employers and they will have to pay taxes . It is about to get very interesting.. another way of life wll develop, lets see how.. My cleaning lady heard about the new law at the store.. .She told me yes they will give us with one hand and take it with the other hand...

That's right. They are better off with status quo....
