Assisted Living Options
Could anyone out there PM me about the assisted living hoices here lakeside? I have a friend living in Mazatlan that needs to be in assisted living by June if possible and she has very little pension. I think it is right under $600 a month. Thank you for your help. bimini6@juno.com

Re: Assisted Living Options
I believe the average care in Ajijic is around $1200.00 USD.
There is an indigent care home on the southside of the lake but I think it is for Mexicans. I was trying to find the post on Trailrunners blog but was unable to locate it.
Another good person to contact is Ron, his number is:

Ron's website is:

Thank you for the info. I thought I had read somewhere about a place in Chapala that was both nationals and others that was on a sliding scale. I will call and ask around. Thank you very much.

Casa de Ancianos, I think. In Chapala.
I have heard there is a waiting list. Good luck there.

Re: Assisted Living Options
Also, the one in Chapala has currently lots of issues around care and management. Maybe not the best place now.
Trailrunner will know about the one on the southside of the lake. There's plenty of room there, but I don't know who they can accept. Key to being there is Spanish. The current residents are all Spanish-speaking and the nuns as well.
If there is any interest in staying in Mazatlan, you might check with the hospice that is there to see if they have any leads on assisted living. An email address is gray.cheryl@yahoo.com
Good luck.
