filing for capital gains exemption
From the sale of a house last year, I'm told I need to file for the capital gains exemption and that was to happen around April 1st of this year.
I've contacted an accountant, Spanish only, who said she would do it .... but I'm not getting a response and am concerned about deadlines for getting this document completed and 'filed'??
Anyone with experience with this?
When does the document need to be completed?
Does only an accountant do this?
Anyone have a recommendation lakeside of someone who can complete this document for me?
Thanks ....

Well, the notario's office is the one who said that an accountant did the form ... but no more information than that. Real Estate broker (not useful), emailed the realtor -- said any accountant can do it. The person I'm trying to use has a busy office, so I'm assuming she knows what she is doing ... but at this point, I think I'd be better off with someone who speaks English and where I can get a definite answer. I don't want this task to fall through the cracks for all the obvious reasons.

The "capital gains" is done by the Notario and should have been done at closing. Which Notario handed you off to an accountant?

Re: filing for capital gains exemption
yes, capital gains are determined at closing. That is not the same as filing the piece of paper for the exemption. As I said, this is something that has to be completed by an accountant (based on what I was told) and filed .... probably with the state. But, I need to find someone who knows what they are doing and get this done apparently now. The notario's office said April 1, 2019 on/about. So, I need a recommendation for an english speaking accountant who can do this.

Don´t know any English speaking accountants, but you are correct in that this must be handled by a CP (Contador Publico), and not a Notario, as they are certified to file tax matters with the SAT.
If you don´t speak Spanish, hire an interpreter, as you are probably looking at a substancial amount of money.

BTW, it is a Federal matter handled with the SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria), the Mexican equivalent of IRS or CRS, NOB.

Yes, an accountant needs to file the declaration. It's a simple document. And yes there are some available who speak English and can do it for you for a small fee.

Does anyone know if there is a deadline for filing the declaration. The notario said I had to wait until April 1 of this year, but did not mention a deadline. Thanks ...
