I have no idea since I don’t go out at night. And they probably consider me -Z list ( I hope.)

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
Who cares what they think. I have met some very supposed high class people who are very low class... and vice versa. Come to think of it, my mother was a snob. Loved her dearly but she was a snob. She was always dressed to the nines even to go to the grocery store. I prefer jeans and t-shirts. You is what you is.

And I would like to say thanks in advance for anyone not living in Ajijic to stay in your own hoods...….it's too busy here sometimes.

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
If anyone in this remote outpost of the universe is a snob, he or she is also a fool.
Lady O: "If the shoe does not fit do not jam it on and go stomping around..." Is that what you heard in my post, or are you just feeling the need to be snarkier than usual? Relax and have a siesta.

"A lot of the money for the bench project came from people who do not live in Ajijic." (Ginger)
Is the "a lot of" the case, or did most of the contributions come from Ajijic-ers? Would appreciate an answer, since I doubted the "lot".
Why do you doubt it?
I would be willing to bet at least 50% (or within the statistical margin of error), including moi, came from residents other than Ajijic as I know many of them, and no, I haven´t looked at Bob´s list of names
What pct. would qualify as a lot in your mind?
The poster on TOB you attributed that statement to, also posts on this board, and was a contributor as well.
Another silly argument over nothing

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
BTW.... gringal I haven´t ever thought of you being a "snob", or writing like one, because you live in Ajijic, but you certainly drew my attention when you thought that it was "doubtful" there could be a "lot" of contributors from elsewhere, other than Ajijic.
After all, this is a closely inhabited area of small villages, that is separated only by a few km. or minutes. Most of us are in and out of the different pueblos frequently.
I would be willing to bet that half of the extranjeros living here, full or part time, don´t even know the delineation of the limits of each delegación within the municipio.

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
You're probably right, Slainte, but I didn't expect people who don't use the Ajijic Malecon to feel the need to fix the benches. I was pleasantly surprised to see the public spirited response from you and others who did contribute.
Those who do use the Ajijic Malecon on a regular basis have seen the extent of the deterioration of the benches and bridges and knew the need to do something about it. We are all grateful to Bob for stepping up to lead the fundraiser.

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
I agree with slainte39..."another silly argument over nothing". Who cares where the money came from? I live in west Ajijic and contributed and hardly ever go to the malecon. BUT when we have out of town visitors, a walk along the malecon is a must.
I don't understand why the big fuss about who lives where and whether they contributed or not.

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
No fuss and like I said I had a couple of contributors who have only been here to visit a couple of times with no intention of ever living here. Monday we meet with the gardening guild to see if we can get the bridge's repaired.
If anyone is yet collecting for Chapala let me know. My friend hasn't started his campaign yet. Personally, I consider Chapala to Joco to be my hood!!!

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
I am so relieved that we purchased our home, in Ajijic, half way toward seiz esquinas, when there was no malecon; just a Parque Amistad.
Then, after experiencing Ajijic for a few years, we sold and escaped to Chapala centro, where we lived happily ever after for the next decade.
Now, excuse me, while I go relieve myself again..........

Re: BENCH QUESTION FOR CBOB
When I moved to Chapala from Ajijic, my friends warned me: "Ten cuidado Alex, Chapala es diferente. En Ajijic todos somos familia. En Chapala todos son mentirosos y rateros." While this may have been somewhat of an exaggeration, I'm forever grateful for the good advice. Living here often reminds me of living in a Dickens' novel. Fagin lives up on the hill and sends his army of young thieves and whores out roaming the streets all day and all night to prey upon the general population. For me, it makes life a lot more interesting.
