Tony's SAT
NEVER AGAIN!
Bought a bunch of food to go for a big group comida and between the prices and the attitude of the owner (Tony's SIL) I will never set foot in that place again. 85 pesos for less than a pint of friggin' beans coupled with the attitude that he was doing me a favor. . .!
Not to be confused with real Tony's restaurant out by San Nicolas.

The gambit there I don't like is with the wait staff... with a large party, they are SO SLOW in returning change for separado checks... people are talking, leaving & they just never bring. I thus left a 100+ peso tip for 2 margaritas... he knew what he was doing.. next..

Definitely an attitude problem there. Used to enjoy the place. That was then. Sorry, but there it is. I wonder if they've lost customers in general?

Re: Tony's SAT
I'm sure they have lost customers.
Can we add Tony's Take Out next to the Deli 8 that is not living up to expectations? Yes, they have returned their coleslaw and potato salad to the original recipes. That's the good. But, NO rotisserie chicken for nearly a year because they can't or won't fix or replace their machine????
Never seen anything so dumb in my entire life. They used to have constant line ups but now there's maybe two people in front of me on Saturdays. I don't like the "flat" chickens because they are too dry unless eaten immediately. Which means the closest place is Walmart and they aren't exactly big.
Whine, whine, whine.

Re: Tony's SAT
They have definitely lost a lot of the following of original Tony's. The place is mostly empty and I've seen attitude-guy pacing the parking lot with a grim expression. He doesn't deserve to call the place Tony's!

Really dumb of the chicken place with Dusty Chicken close by. I quit buying Walmart rotisserie chicken after all the reports of their raw chicken being rotten. I would imagine their rotisserie birds are made from past their sell by date chickens.

The "dusty chicken" (aka David's) up across from the Pemex station on the Libramiento is outstanding. The guacamole and potato sides are very good, and that's our usual Saturday lunch. Enough chicken left for more tacos, which I like to cut up and marinate in tomato sauce. Keeps on giving.
It's hard to build a reputation for a restaurant. Too bad the SIL inherited a good thing and has messed it up.

Different city, same maneuver.caligirl108 wrote:The gambit there I don't like is with the wait staff... with a large party, they are SO SLOW in returning change for separado checks... people are talking, leaving & they just never bring. Went to two different restaurants and they both took a long time to come back with the change. Next time I’m paying with exact change.

Isn´t it Tony´s ex-wife, daughter, and son-in-law that are the proprietors now, in that order of chain of command. They all bear some responsibility for the lack of management.
The only upside is the cessation of Tony´s singing abilitities.
…..and they have made some improvements in the food offered and dining equipment. Not enough to make up for attitude problems.

Re: Tony's SAT
Tony's does have management - bad management, unfortunately. Looks like micro-management, actually.
lol Slainte, you are probably right. I have a hard time keeping up with who's who much less who was who. Def SIL tho.

We quit going after the new Menu came out with the price increase. We were shocked at the price increases for such mediocre food. We used to eat there 4-5 times a week but haven't been back since. The owners attitude is horrible and his waitstaff is just as bad.

I'm not a meat eater but I tasted the outrageously expensive arrachera I bought on request and it was tough as a marinated charro saddle.

We haven't been in years either. They priced themselves out of our business.

Always liked Tony’s ribs .... I don’t like “attitude” and haven’t gone since the snotty SIL showed his colors.

I'm not sure what their chickens are selling for, but their fried strips and wings, at $210p a kilo, are WAY over-priced and probably allowing them all to add second stories to their homes, or backyard pools, or something. I have a feeling they don't think selling whole chickens is worth the bother anymore.

The food, drinks, service and attitude of "Tony's has continued to deteriorate since Tony departed and his P.O.S SIL took over..It was one of our favorites and is on the "DO NOT ENTER" short list.
