Yes, many of the DISH USA channels can be received here, but not all. DirecTV USA bleeds some but fewer channels down here when one uses the largest Ku band satellite dish one can normally get 2.4 meters or about 8 feet in diameter.
At the moment, the English language satellite provider with the strongest signal down here is the Canadian Shaw Direct. With a 1.2 meter or 4 foot satellite dish one can get most all of the channels broadcast on their two older satellites. However soon they will be upgrading to a new satellite which can not be watched this far south. And I think one has only a year or three of good TV from the old satellites left. And then there is a chance that there will be no more Shaw Direct down here. Sure hope I am wrong.
Most of Shaw's programming is from Canada, but they to have the US news channels. you know CNN, Fox etc and US network feeds from Seattle or Spokane on the West Coast and East coast feeds from Detroit and one network station (Fox) from Rochester, NY.
I could go on and on.

Re: satellite and cable
I have Dish TV, with no signal problems. I get a 120-channel set, although there are 200 and 250 channel options, too. The only limitation on Dish I have seen is there are certain add-on packages which are not available here.

There is no dish nor cable where I live. But I don't watch TV and never will. But I'm thinking if you guys have SKY my cable-less modem is with Sky. Maybe just maybe if you sign on to SKY you'd get the modem too.

Not only are they winning but I think I see little golden circles over their heads…...
