Rosewood (I think that is it) for cabinets, doors, etc.
Anyone used Rosewood for kitchen / bath cabinets?
How hard is the wood ... more the direction of parota or oak, or the direction of pine?
Did you treat the wood for termites?
Does it take stain well?
Are you overall pleased with the choice?
Comments, thoughts?
Thanks ....
S.

I have pine cabinets , they were never treated and I do not havetermites or woodworm f the pine is kiln dried there is little problem unless yo have a very humid house or wall.

Do you mean rosa morada? If so, it's a hardwood with characteristics similar to parota and is naturally termite resistant.

Thanks for the correction! I saw it for the first time yesterday at a cabinetmakers shop, and liked it. I had gotten wood samples from the Arq that 'was' building our house ... and who no longer is building our house .... that did not include rosa morada!! Like everything else with this guy, his experience was limited.
It looks like a great choice and I like it much better than parota!

It is a tropical hardwood and is tough enough that it is used as flooring (cabin sole) in some luxury yachts. The grain and colors can be very attractive.

I'm very pleased to have discovered this. The cabinet maker indicated that it's almost the same price as parota ...

I was told parota was 'it' ... I'm sure glad it is not and that there is another great choice for doors and cabinets. The cabinet maker I'm using has a picture of some doors ... very nice.
