I understand Mexico is now seriously considering legal recreational as well.

Hope so, we'll see. AMLO may be able to pull it off. We really need medical cannabis clinics, docs, and research as well as recreational approval. Fingers crossed.

LOL! Too bad they didn't get around to it while renegotiating Nafta 2. Since Freeland was regularly bringing Lighthizer (sp?) cookies and maple syrup, it would have been hilarious to have plied him with special brownies.

Colorado and Washington State made pot legal in 2013. And guess what happened to our professional football teams?  We both went to the Super Bowl the following year and perhaps because the Washington Pot was better, The Seattle Seahawks beat the Colorado team.

Oh and it is all over the news in WA and BC, that just because pot is legal on both sides of the border, we are not allowed to bring any over the boarder from Washington to British Columbia or visa versa because one side of the boarder is controlled by the US Federal Government which still finds pot illegal.

I remember that in the 60's, we Seattle pot heads all thought that there was nothing  better than BC bud and we would all drive north over the boarder and buy the pot (illegally) in BC and drive it back over the boarder. I guess in those days the cars were not checked closely because no one ever got caught, or even talked about it being dangerous to do so.

I thought it was! Didn't Colorado finance a year of public education on the tax from the first year of legal weed sales? I read something like that a few years ago.

I know that the pot sold in the state of WA is taxed at a very high rate. How high? I don't know. But the taxes brought in have been very helpful. I fully expect that Canada will and should do the same.

Pete, it's worse (and simpler) than you think! Forget about B.C., don't even press your luck transporting any amount of marijuana between the U.S. west coast states that have already legalized use and possession. Import/export, even for personal use, is still illegal in each and every one of 'em.
