City Hall goes dark....

What's worse -- the city gub'mint is 4 months behind on the electric bill, or our good friends at CFE cut the power to the city?

The previous administration was an absolute joke. The were the stereotype of corruption in Mexican government. Let's hope this new admin can perform better.

And the Degollados wonder why neither one of them was elected this last time.

And then pissed and moaned about losing and became very pouty and verbal and fought and demanded a recount and new election. Big balls, in my opinion. They have been the worst since I've been here.
Also goes to show you how very personally lucrative it must be to be a corrupt Chapala delegado!

But, with all the failures in services, I'll wager they left office richer than when they went in.

The police dept still has electricity. I can tell because the tinaco on the roof is still overflowing enough water to keep the pot holes in the street full. It's only been about three weeks so we're hoping the first of the month might bring the two dollar fix it so badly needs.

You know, OS, an overflowing tinaco is a routine repair and costs about 50 pesos to replace the bad shut-off valve. It's a nothing, they just don't want to do it and would rather waste the water.

Ever get the feeling western society is collapsing? I feel bad for younger people. Primarily because of the all crap they get forced upon them. How the pushers get away with calling it music, I don't know. Too bad we can't line-up somewhere for a daily dose of Panglossian misplaced optimism.

This situation in Chapala is a microcosm of what happened in Puerto Rico a broken system.... a mess left to the "other" incoming administration to fix..compounded by the hurricane that swept through.
Sadly this reflects on Mexico as a whole and maybe why a "populist" was the winner of the last federal election.

Yup, the cops couldn't possibly care less about the water. However, a few months ago at the direction of the El Jefe there was a naked cop IN the tinaco. He tried and tried but after an hour he failed to find or fix the problem. We gave him a D for his efforts.

Re: City Hall goes dark....
No video but did take a few stills, then erased them after a day or two. Figured the laughs could come back to bite if the cops happened upon them. After all the only place they could have been taken from was our living room. I was tempted with the shot of the bare legs and feet sticking straight up out of the tank. It was epic and still a mystery as to WTF he was doing.
