New best hamburger in town
Can be found at the Cocktail Bar (ex Tom's Bar) on Constitution in Ajijic. Give it a try if you are a burger connoisseur. I would like to hear what others think. They also have really good chicken wings.

Who'd a thunk??
How about a bit of details on that? Lean or fatty burger? What kind of cheese? Bimbo bun or good bun?
Better than Trip's?

Way better than Trip's (IMO). Pure beef, lean, hand made patty (at least 1/4 lb), fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I don't think the bun was Bimbo but it was fresh.

I tried Trip's once after everybody gave it so many kudos. It was a goo float, so not really all that impressed. It sounds like the one at the Cocktail Bar is worth the long commute.

I always order Tripp's sin salsa, just meat and onion. Don't like that "goo" either.
My favorite, almost hamburger?, is Emma's patty melt.

I like the burger (classica) with white cheese at the Container Restaurants in Riberas. Way better than Tripp's. I only go there when I'm reallllly hungry though. It's big and I always order it well done. I cut it in half immediately because there's no way that someone could pick it up in its entirety... it also tells me if it's been cooked long enough because I don't like pink ground beef.

The patty melt at Emma's is a winner. A little tricky to eat, since the contents tend to leak out the back when you're biting the front, but worth it.
Come to think of it......everything I've tried at Emma's is a winner.

Usually any burger that isn’t a preformed hockey puck will be better than a lot of what’s served around here. I like Tripp’s and ask for less sauce and it now is my fave of those I’ve tried. Will have to give the Cocktail Bar and the Container place a try. I never eat pink ground beef either.
Did the Cocktail Bar serve good fries on the side?

Emma's Deli serves a great sirloin burger special on Mondays. Not sure if they make the buns themselves, but they are fantastic! The burger is juicy and lean. It comes with a side of either potato salad or coleslaw. I took half of my burger home to eat later! Yummy!

Absolutely, not one thing on their menu I don't like, and I am very picky.

Do they have a condiment bar? That was the best part of Rick's 60's in paradise. Do they have dill pickles, hot mustard, & lots of other choices? Thanks for any info.

Re: New best hamburger in town
No, they do not have a condiment bar. Being a "Bar" first and restaurant second would probably make that a bit difficult. 60's in Paradise was a burger speciality joint.

Hot mustard? .....stop by Min Wah on your way to the hamburger dinner.
If you get to GDL. it's hard to beat Carl's Jr.

"Stop my MIN WAH" for ANYTHING??? Well, maybe for some MSG.
I have to agree about Carl's Jr. in GDL, though.

Actually another fantastic burger is at Denny's at the Hampton Inn just past the airport. Who would have thought Denny's would have a good burger? I certainly didn't but it is the absolute best burger around IMO. Better than anything you will find around here. It is very much like the ole "60's in Paradise" burger that we used to be able to get around here. We need Rick to open another burger joint.

Denny's huh? They used to make super sundaes in the States and yes, the burgers were good, too. Gotta try that burger one of these days.
60's in Paradise served good ones with all the trimmings. Rick did open another restaurant, but he allowed smoking in about half of it, which did no good at all for the non-smokers. In addition, it was "pet friendly". No comment on that...a real can 'o worms.

Best burgers for me are Bruno’s in Ajijic, Toca Madera in Chapala, and Food Container in Riberas. All serve the wedge fried potatoes which are delicious.

I agree, no Min Wah for me, but my Mexican grand daughters love it, I'm just plugging their mustard.
The fact that GDL people like it, shows what a dearth of Chinese restaurants there are GDL. The Qin locations are the only ones worth mentioning.

Re: New best hamburger in town
Having lived in the San Francisco Bay area, I had many good Chinese restaurants around. YUM. Now, when I hanker for it, I choose the next best thing at Chopsticks, where they don't put crud in the food and the potstickers are a treat. Besides, she makes pies to live for along with ice cream. Yess!!
About those granddaughters: You know kids don't care what's in their food: they just go for the taste.
