It looks like it's only available in Guad.

Re: ATT Internet
I assume ATT would be using the telmex lines to deliver the internet access? If so, I can't see how it would be any better. Telmex's problem is due to crappy old wires, bad connections and a lack of stingers (boosters). Or are they using telecable?

It does not use telephone service.

I just did a speedtest with TelCel and it is 5.77mbps. My Telmex is faster.

So I guess they give you a device (modem of sorts) that acts like a cellular wifi hotspot. Do you get good cell reception within your house?

Cellular is OK but cost could be an issue....

Re: ATT Internet
I went to ATT and wanted to try the system prior to purchasing the modem for 1200p. It is buy and try! So I purchased a SIM card for 100p and tried to see if I'm in a dead zone. The store location in Data format supplied around 22Mbps, the same test at home 0.5 to 2.5. Note that the store location supplied 4G, something I can't acquire at home!

Re: ATT Internet
I just had telmex at the house , I was told that the best I can expect is 2MGB and that I should not have several devices on such as cell or tablets and that each device eats up MGB.. so the further west you go from the Waffle house you go and the worse it gets.. Except for fiber optics I do not see a solution as telmex will not do anything.. per telmex...

Spoke to the tech working on the lines yesterday in the "finest infrastructure Lakeside" and was told the best one can obtain here at the "finest infrastructure Lakeside" is 3M at the gatehouse, and progressively worse as you went up the hill till if was virtually "zero". I guess I should be delighted that I get 1.6M!

Re: ATT Internet
1.6 Kb/second or 1600 bits per second. Yes that is very slow. But do you remember Lagunanet dialup? They introduced internet to lakeside and their speeds were up to 28.8 bits per second or only about 2% of the speed you are getting.
So yes, 1.6 is very slow, but much faster than 21 years ago when internet came to the lake. (Oh, beforehand one had to phone long distance to Guadalajara for dialup internet)

Re: ATT Internet
And yes, Telmex charged in those days for long distance calls to Guadalajara or to call Joco from Ajijic.
So before Lagunanet one had to pay to phone a long distance charge to phone your account # in Guadalajara, plus you had to pay for the Guadalajara dialup account.

Re: ATT Internet
I remember well being proud of my very fast (I thought) dialup connection to the rest of the world now of course things have changed and I am very envious of those in or near Chapala who get 20 Mb/sec down by a couple of Megs up.
But it's not the end of the world. I just pay a little more and watch TV programming via satellite

Re: ATT Internet
This is an OK option if you get a good AT&T signal, but their coverage Lakeside isn't nearly as good as Telcel. I know that there are dead spots in the Riberas area with them. Also, they do have a monthly data cap and it isn't all that much.
All AT & T Internet plans at Home are unlimited data. When you reach 150 GB of consumption, the navigation speed can change to 2 Mbps, in both plans 10 or 5 Mpbs (150 GB equals approximately 50 hrs of HD video or 200 hrs of SD video)

Yes, AT&T signal is very spotty. If you can obtain 4G then the speed is respectable.

Re: ATT Internet
I saw one of the ATT internet-only modems two days ago at the office (central Ajijic) and it looked like it was delivering 10MGs down. I definitely suspect that speed/performance depends on your exact location, and possibly even where you place it in the house, etc.
I live in upper central Ajijic, and my Telmex signal is good enough for my purposes. But if I was in one of the "out of luck" neighborhoods, I'd definitely look at it to see if it's a realistic - try without buy - option.

At La Reserve, Just west of Ajijic we get solid 10 with TelMex. When very busy we get down to 5+. But very good streaming and internet. Happy Campers.

Personal Experience
I came to this thread looking for a satellite deal for internet, and I found some good information provided by you folks. Thanks!
Y'all know I'm in Tizapán el Alto, so my choices are very limited. Until last December I used Megacable, but I had no connection for over two weeks and they wouldn't do anything, claiming there were no outages in this area. I switched to TvRey on a 10 Mbps plan and have had nothing but problems since late December, seldom provided anything close to 10 Mbps until last week. That was five months of fluctuation between 0.28 Mbps and at best somewhere around 7 Mbps. I sent them daily reports at their Facebook page and got nowhere.
Last week, a local merchant whom my wife & I have known for years, informed one of his customers (an employee of TvRey) of our problem and its duration. Suddenly, the speed improved -- after five months!
Fortunately, my super-smart wife decided months ago that we should subscribe to TelMex (Infinitum) so that we always have a fall-back option. TelMex has been consistently providing between 7 Mbps and 10+ Mbps. We have no complaints with their service -- but we won't be extending our TvRey contract for damn sure!

Re: ATT Internet
Telcel is now offering a similar internet package
Internet en Tu Casa
Some friends are now using this in Barra de Navidad and Melaque and it works well. Speeds are 10mbs download steady. You need 4G cellular signal where you place the modem - the modems can use external SMA antennas for a better signal. I tested the 4G service in Barra de Navidad last week with my phone. Speed was 35 mbs download and 18 mbs upload.
