Chapala-Guadalajara highway

They have started the repaving project. I just drove back from Manzanillo this morning via the macrolibremiento and was delighted to see they are well underway. They are currently working on the southbound side. Expect delays.

Great news... No more mine field!

Well it looks like they did 2km (not 17km as advertised) and packed up their equipment and went home. No sign of any roadwork today nor last week when I went through. No signs, no equipment, no workers......

Came and went Thurs. AM/PM (3 de may) and they were working full bore, men machines everything, both times on the inside lane going northbound along the flat stretch north of Buena Vista.  Detoured into one lane traffic northbound.  Haven't been back since but they were there then.
Tues was a holiday and I was surprised thy were there Thurs, as it is sort of a holiday for construction workers.

Well they have hidden their equipment. They started 6 or 7 weeks ago and have 2km done. Maybe it is a part time "hobby" for some road crew? Most crew's would be doing 1/2 km per day so go figure.

Any help is appreciated.........

Today?......meaning Sunday?
Maybe the equipment is kept off highway in one of those walled or building sites adjacent to.

Hopefully, other times I have been through there on off days/hours it was sitting off to the side.

19 May...return from airport. No further progress on the bad section of roadway and no new lines painted on the short repaired section.

Yep, I went through there yesterday. They were working but had only completed maybe another 500 meters since I first posted this slowdown.

All I know is they need to fix the larger than manhole, pot holes on the highway coming and going over the mountin into and out of Chapala and Ajijic. I know of several who have broken axles on the highway there.
Going to get a lot worse if not fixed before the rains.

Its an election year, big spending projects on hold, new politicos come in claiming credit for projects already in motion

One of the Spanish speaking facebook pages indicated that the FIRST segment has been completed.

Just came back from GDL and it is finished a little past Buena Vista going south up the hill to Los Cedros. Sure makes a difference.
