True enough. When the inside temperature is in the mid teens it is a bit chilly. Even a few candles burning warms things up a bit in a small room.

Agreed. Bring back incandescent light bulbs too! I've replaced 6 windows so far... only 7 more windows and 2 doors to go.

Don't laugh. But my one big window in my Bedroom-office-TV room combined is double glazed. Why? you ask. Well, not to keep the cold out. I put this window in because I read that double glazed windows help keep the sounds out during those long periods of fireworks mostly in November and December.

These days for the first time in several years, I also appreciate it's insulating benefits.

I'm not laughing Pete. I'm semi doing that too because I'm maintaining the old iron grilled squares with glass but putting an aluminum slider on the inside. Taking the screens off the old iron in November and putting up a piece of acrylic for three months gives me, in effect double pane windows. Fireworks? What fireworks?

I don't believe LED lights contain mercury. The fluorescent bulbs are like betamax and 8 track. They won't be around much longer....

Be glad you are not from way up north where we have rain and snow and the daylight is several hours shorter or almost nonexistent far enough north.

You are right Marty. But I was shocked how much less sunlight per day there is up there these days. I meant farther up north the days are even shorter.
