Description: Based on tried and true approaches, this class teaches caregivers communication styles that work (words to use and those to avoid, phrasing, non-verbal cues), how to partner successfully to accomplish activities of daily living (grooming, eating, medication administration), how to turn repetitive or out of context questions into fruitful conversations, and how to engage a loved one in activities that empower the person with Alzheimer's disease or a similar form of cognitive impairment. You will learn how to guide the person, and yourself, to support a life well lived throughout this challenging process. Rementia methodology has been well received and effective by both family caregivers at home and professional caregivers in organized care settings.

Kassandra received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and a post graduate certification in longterm care administration at Texas State University. Kassandra has been employed as a nursing home administrator at several large facilities with special units for residents with Alzheimer’s. She holds skilled nursing home administrator licenses in both California and Texas, and a Residential Care Facility Administrator license. Her assisted living experience includes memory care program director and Rementia Care Training educator.
As Public Policy Director and Professional Education Manager, Kassandra served at two chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association. She is the owner of Alzheimer’s Connection, a company that provides family consultations, private care management, and Rementia Care Training.
Kassandra is the author of “Getting REAL About Alzheimer’s – Rementia through Engagement, Assistant, and Love.” The book is published by Plainview Press and available on Amazon.
