VIOLIN REPAIR PERSON?
I have two very good violins and bows. The violins need some attention and the bows need restringing. Anyone in the area that does this?

You might check with Trevor Armstrong, who does some work along this line, located in SAT. I don't know his exact address but if I find it, I will post it.

Or track down Victor and/or his father. They would know where to get violin's serviced. Hector at Manix would know how to contact them.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I would appreciate knowing more about contacting the first one.
I don't know Hector at Manix. When is a good time to find him?

Hector Espana is the ex Ajijic Delgado/owner of Manix Restaurant. He is probably there most days. Victor the violinist use to play there on a regular basis.

You need a luthier and there are none in the area. I don't know any but there are some in Guadalajara. Google search might help or the local equivalent to Yellow Pages (whatever that would be). There is a new music store in San Antonio which may be able to provide a referral.
EDIT - Google search showed this result (among others) - http://violinorbit.wixsite.com/hector-gomez

Thanks very much. My Spanish is minimal, so the search would have been difficult. Last year, Chris, the man who heads up the annual music festival, tried to connect me with their luthier, but didn't have the time to work on my fiddles. I do have a friend who is fluent and who has offered to take me to a luthier and translate. Your referral sounds like what I need.

Just a note to add a plug for Trevor and his cool music store in SAT. He did a great job repairing the neck of my Takamine/Martin D28 guitar. Good work, fast turnaround time, and more than fair price.
Gracias, Trevor.
