Star Trek Fans Take Note!
"Star Trek Discovery" aired on CBS last night, and the rest of the season is only available if you pay for the separate CBS All Access channel -- IF you're in the USA. Here in Mexico we can watch it on Netflix! I'd noticed it as a new show on my Netflix channel on Apple TV, and thought "huh?" This article answered my question, and has a great trailer embedded in it. Happy watching, fellow Star Trek fans. http://heavy.com/entertainment/2017/09/can-you-watch-star-trek-discovery-on-netflix-time-where/

Re: Star Trek Fans Take Note!
I think Netflix already has two episodes available. Going to check it out tonight. It is filmed in Toronto.......the center of the universe.....jaja.

Jeez Bob, nice to hear that "Vancouverites" are finally acknowledging that Toronto IS the centre of the universe.

Isn't that called Toronta? I know where Mississauga is. Isn't Toranta south of York and East of Mississauga? Hazel McCallion, the former mayor of Mississauga between 1978 and 2014 mentioned that one of the suburbs of Mississauga is Toranta. And it is considered part of the greater GMA area
What I don't remember is whether the M in GMA stands or McCallion or Mississauga.
By the way I saw the Star Trek on CBS last night. And got a little P O d when I heard that if I wanted to watch more of the series unless you subscribe. NO WAY.

Or you can wait a month or 2 and watch it on DVD or Blue-Ray.

Re: Star Trek Fans Take Note!
The pilot was OK, although quite predictable. It looks like it is produced by NetFlix since they call it a "NetFlix Original". I guess CBS is buying it from them.

I think that the "Netflix Original" that pops up before some shows is a misnomer somehow. It shows before "Designated Survivor" which (according to Wikipedia) "was ordered straight to series by ABC in December 2015." And "Star Trek: Discovery" was created for CBS All Access... It's a mystery why Netflix does this. Maybe they get to claim some shows as their own in foreign markets.

Re: Star Trek Fans Take Note!
Yeah apparently it is produced by CBS under a partnership licensing deal with Netflix. Netflix has the rights in all countries except Canada and the US.

Saw the first episode last evening. Visually gorgeous. Wooden actors, but as long time fans, we'll stay with it!

I'm pleased it's down here.
If anyone has seen the (direct to video) Paramount documentary "Trekkies," you might notice your's truly has four scenes in it.
It was quite a thrill to have Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) at my house for a full day of filming.
I had the second biggest Star Trek collection in California before coming here.
Too bad there isn't a Star Trek Convention here.

Re: Star Trek Fans Take Note!
Last night, I saw the second episode with yet another logical disconnect when they send the two top female officers off to capture the meanest Klingon of them all. Two women against a bunch of Klingons who are in their home territory and armed to the teeth? Geesh. Well, the visuals are still gorgeous.

Re: Star Trek Fans Take Note!
I just saw the first two episodes and what gringal says I agree with to a slight degree.
I think the idea in using the women is to convey the idea tht there is no discrimination in the future, and every person makes it on their merit.
Also, even though Kirk and occasionally Picard, did get physical with the "enemy," in normal circumstances, the captain uses his/her training and experience, and gender is not relevant.
The best person for the job.
I'll have to get one of those uniforms made for when I give my Star Trek talk.
