Chewing tobacco (Copenhagen)

Does anyone know where I can purchase chewing tobacco in the Lake Chapala area, or Guadalajara? I've already checked Walmart, as well as several convenience stores, and asked around, but no one seems to know. Thanks in advance

Your best bet would be Paz Liquors which is right beside SuperLake in SAT. They have a wide selection of cigars and other tobacco related products.

Many thanks CanuckBob, you were right, they stock it. It's nearly twice the price as California but it will help as an incentive to eventually quit. I was also able to find other things I had been looking for at Paz as well as SuperLake. To the other responders; really? You have nothing constructive to contribute but feel the need to throw out your little comments? No matter where I go outside the US those little busybody types are all over the place casting moral judgements. Thankfully there are enough CanuckBob's out there that it's still worth being on a site like this.

Sorry Lady Otter Latté, I think I could have been more clear. The point I was trying to make is that some people in my/our culture, no matter where they live (US or anywhere else) seem to feel the need to voice their discontent on how others live their lives. As a result they feel obligated to cast aspersions on anyone they feel isn't living up to their way of living.
With regard to some of the other comments; I am extremely discreet with my tobacco use, and unless I was to tell someone, they would never know I even use it. I worked in an office environment for over 15 years and not a single one of my co-workers ever had a clue that I use tobacco.

I quit (for good) nearly 4 years ago.

I am 53 and had been stuffing Copenhagen in my mouth for roughly 36 years. Used nicotine gum in parallel with tobacco to reduce my tobacco use for seven years.

Then I weaned myself off the nicotine gum last summer. It was incredibly hard, and caused some serious disruptions in my ability to sleep and to act like a decent human being for a month or two, haha.

But that stuff can cause some serious health problems. Not for all users, but I felt I was raising my odds of having something bad happen. I actually had a chew over at a buddy's house a few weeks ago. Did nothing for me. I was happy to know that. I was most concerned about potential circulatory issues since nicotine constricts your arteries.

Congratulations to you! You probably added ten years to your life.

I had a patient once who used to chew but then he got tongue and  mandible cancer and they had to remove most of both. His 'jaw' just hung there and flapped around and he drooled so much he had to wear a bib and carry a rag. Felt so sorry for him I bought him a pint of Hagan Daz.

Growing up as dumb hicks in eastern Oregon, my buddies and I rationalized chewing as safe because we had never seen anyone who had suffered ill affects from using. Same deal later in life when I worked with several engineers from Montana. They all chewed and claimed to have never seen anyone with problems from chewing.

I think your description of your patient explains why; if your face is falling off you tend to not go out in public.

About three years ago while back in my eastern Oregon hometown I saw an elderly guy with a hole beneath his front lip caused by chewing. And...he was still chewing. I also know a cattle rancher who bought Copenhagen by the case (I actually did for several years as well) and has chewed for nearly 70 years with no problems. My dad smoked cigarettes for 70 years and was just starting to get emphysema at 83 when passed due to a stomach aneurysm. Genes probably play a big role.

Forgot to mention that this patient couldn't eat either. . .so he lived in a nursing home and had to have a feeding tube.
