NIce hotel suitable for groups
Good morning everyone,
I am looking for a good hotel (similar in standard to the Morales in downtown GDL) in the $1,500 peso a night range that has at least 20 rooms. Can anyone help me with some leads? Can be Chapala or Ajijic but needs to not be too far out from centre if possible.
Thanks in advance!

Hotel Real de Chapala ain't bad. They've been renovating the rooms. Restaurant has a lovely view and, the last time I was there, the food was not at all bad, and I believe they serve morning, noon and night and possibly room service. There's a pool and extensive grounds. This is perched slightly above the Lake, west of the main area of Chapala. Not much within easy walking distance for me, but younger people could walk into the main drag in Chapala. Ajijic is 10-15 minutes away by car.

P.S. La Nueva Posada on the Lake in Ajijic is lovely, but I suspect the rooms may be more expensive. It has a very good restaurant IMO and a lovely lawn overlooking the Lake, which is the only grass-with-vista that it has, but it IS a great place. Entry hall has vaulted ceiling and elaborate staircase. A rather historic spot in Ajijic.

WHOOPS! The hotel I described on the Lake just west of Chapala is the Monte Carlo!
Real de Chapala is in Ajijic, on the Lake in a residential area, and is not a bad choice either! Not walking distance to anywhere, as there is a large residential community surrounding it, but it is in a nice area.

Hotel Villa San Francisco is right on the malecon in Chapala. Best location there and probably the nicest hotel in Chapala. Their book rate is right around $1500 per night.

I agree this is probably the best located and nicest hotel in centro Ajijic. I'm sure you could negotiate a group rate with them.

We were just at the Real de Chapala the other day. It's beautiful, right on the lake in La Floresta. Very nice ambience and food. The rooms start at about 2500 pesos.

There's also Danza del Sol in Ajijic. Walkable to Ajijic centro, but maybe too far for some. I've never stayed there, so I don't have any first hand knowledge about the rooms.
