Flying with your dog

I have just found out that in order to fly a medium or large dog with United you now have to thru a pet broker. It takes us 13 hours to go from Guadalajara to Duluth but our medium size dog can not go on our plane. She has to go on another day and it will take at least 3 days of transit. She also can not fly into the international airport but must go to Minneapolis. The rules for flying with a dog that does not fit under the seat have recently changed. Since we already have our tickets we would need to take the dog to Guad 5 days before we leave then have someone pick her up in Minneapolis and keep her for us until we get home and drive down to that city to get her. She could be in a kennel for 3 or 4 days!

Is it possible for someone driving back to the US to take her? Even part way? Many people are heading back now.
