Re: Airport Transportation
Much less with Uber, 160 or something.
I saw an ad somewhere the other day for an Uber driver here in Ajijic. They had the car, legalities with Uber, insurance, everything, all they were looking for was a driver.

Re: Airport Transportation
I arrived at the SeaTac airport Friday and asked Uber how much they would charge to take me to my condo in downtown Seattle. I was quoted $42 US, I took the cab and it cost $43.10
This was my first attempt with Uber and felt more comfortable taking a cab and it was as you can see, almost the same price.

It sounds like you were probably quoted the price for Uber Black, which is the premium service, instead of UberX (economy).

This is what was on Facebook:
The drivers name is German. He's a friend of mine and I'm helping him get his business going. He speaks great English and Spanish. He lived in the US AND IS in his 50s. Car is safe and Insured. If I can get him going well on this I'll another car for him. His number is 3318236761.

Re: Airport Transportation
You can get an Uber estimate online through Google.
Remember, if you use yur US based CC, you will pay a 3.5% conversion fee.
You can use a Ms. credit/debit card for Uber.
I think there was talk of Uber now being allowed to take cash, not sure.
Occasionally I have looked for an Uber at Lakeside and none available.
Uber is very unpopular with Mx. taxi drivers; a couple of months ago, an Uber driver was beaten up and his car trashed by some taxi drivers.
If it's $450 from airport to Chapala, it has gone up from a couple of months ago when I paid $400.
I have gotten a local gringa to do it sometimes since she is very poor, and I can talk to her on the way.

Re: Airport Transportation
I recently paid 280 pesos with Uber from the airport to Ajijic...considerably less than the local going rate.

Re: Airport Transportation
So we ordered an Uber car. Loaded 4 suitcases, 2 bags and a backpack into his car when he tells us Uber doesn't go all the way to Chapala. He has a meter app on his phone - wants 320 MX to go to Chapala. What the hey? Welcome back to Mexico.

Re: Airport Transportation
I wouldn't want to be an Uber driver getting caught by all those taxi drivers at the airport. I can see doing drop offs but pick ups are ballsy. I had a friend doing the "Uber" thing in PV about 10 years ago and after he was spotted at the airport on numerous occasions a few taxi drivers followed him and told him they would kill him if they see him working there again.

320 is still an EXCELLENT rate, given that the local drivers' rate is 500.
