Replacement switch for oil-filled radiant heater
The switch on my Lakewood 1500w oil-filled heater is fried. Pretty easy fix if I can locate a replacement switch. Anyone know where I might be able to purchase one?

Take out the original and visit the local “electrodomesticos“ for advice. If they cannot find an exact replacement, it appears that there is room for the addition of another switch, or two, with a bit of “modification“.

Yeah. Can you (or someone) suggest an “electrodomesticos“ in Chapala? My research failed to locate any.

I think there was, or is, a repair guy somewhere in or around the locksmith on Morelos. Ask them. Ask at the fereteria on the corner. Ask Luis at Chapala Consignment shop.

There is an electrodomestico shop, Refrigeracion Camarena, on Lopez Cotilla in Chapala, on the north side of the street, just a couple of blocks east of the mercado publico. They are very good and you may even find fluent English spoken.

UPDATE - they don't sell parts but would be happy to send a technician to give me a quote for the repair (80 pesos fee for the technician.) Can anyone suggest another possible source? I just need the part; I can replace it myself.

I would just go get a toggle switch at Steren and "McGyver" it in. You are not very likely to get an exact replacement.

If it were me, I'd take it to SJC to the Calvarios (?) father and son, they can fix literally ANYTHING. No need to buy parts, it will cost very little, and it will be done well.
Yellow shop, on the carretera, lake side, just east of the tower.

I am starting to think that you're right. Problem is that a simple toggle won't work. It has to be a double (for 600W and 900W) and a relay for the thermostat.

You're likely right, but I didn't want to transport the thing anywhere (getting by without wheels at present). And it seems silly to go to the trouble and expense for something that can be replaced for $25.
Hope springs eternal in the human breast.

Nah. Minimum 4 trips. Doesn't makes sense to me. If I end up going the route of having someone else fix it, I'll likely go ahead and have the local guy send a technician for 80 pesos and see what they will charge for the work.
I could likely make a switch from any make dual-power heater work so I was kind of holding out for a DIY solution. Someone must sell them; these heaters are common enough. And, I dunno, I kind of get a kick out of doing these kind of simple repairs myself. Pride goeth before the fall, I guess.
